Enlightenment is the process of facing yourself.
Masaru Emoto, a Japanese energy scholar, author and entrepreneur, said that, “If you feel lost, disappointed, hesitant, or weak, return to yourself, to who you are, here and now and when you get there, you will discover yourself, like a lotus flower in full bloom, even in a muddy pond, beautiful and strong."
Do you find yourself dreaming big but never getting even half of what you desire - the big house, the jaguar, peace, joy, the marriage of your dreams? Do you see a disparity between where you are now and where you desire to be in life? Maybe NOW is the time to FACE YOURSELF!
"...I started to realize how many great things could happen by confronting the things that scare you most." ― David Archuleta
To achieve your heart's desires and live your purpose you need to listen intently to that deep, inner gut feeling that guides you to what you yearn for in your life. It tells you where you should go and how you can get there, but firstly you need to force yourself to know yourself intimately. It is like looking at yourself in a mirror, as it reflects your whole life back at you so that you know and see yourself intricately ― the good, the bad and the ugly.

"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers." ― M. Scott Peck
The Man In The Glass by Peter Dale Wimbrow Sr.
When you get what you want in your struggle for self
And the world makes you king for a day
Just go to the mirror and look at yourself
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn’t your father, or mother, or wife
Whose judgment upon you must pass
The fellow whose verdict counts most in your life
Is the one staring back from the glass.
He’s the fellow to please – never mind all the rest
For he’s with you, clear to the end
And you’ve passed your most difficult, dangerous test
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You may fool the whole world down the pathway of years
And get pats on the back as you pass
But your final reward will be heartache and tears
If you’ve cheated the man in the glass.
"Nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know… nothing ever really attacks us except our own confusion. Perhaps there is no solid obstacle except our own need to protect ourselves from being touched. Maybe the only enemy is that we don’t like the way reality is now and therefore wish it would go away fast. But what we find as practitioners is that nothing ever goes away until it has taught us what we need to know. If we run a hundred miles an hour to the other end of the continent in order to get away from the obstacle, we find the very same problem waiting for us when we arrive. It just keeps returning with new names, forms, manifestations until we learn whatever it has to teach us about where we are separating ourselves from reality, how we are pulling back instead of opening up, closing down instead of allowing ourselves to experience fully whatever we encounter, without hesitating or retreating into ourselves."

Facing yourself is one of the most unpleasant feelings.
Facing yourself sounds easy but in all honesty it is one of the most difficult spiritual things that one may have to do in life to become more enlightened and to succeed. However, once attained, the pathways to your dreams and goals, as well as love, peace and harmony become a reality in your life ― a vision as clear as crystal.
Suddenly you know where you are and where to go, what you need to do to get where you want to go, what not to do and what you need to let go of that no longer serves you. All this while, a still, small but clear voice is guiding you from within at each and every step you take. Some may call this a Higher Power or the Universe, and yet others call this the God of their understanding, a Guiding Light, a Divine Power. It is up to you really what you call IT.
Facing yourself is often very painful, as it reveals the good with the bad inside that makes up the holistic you. Sometimes seeing what holds you back hurts like being pierced through your soul by a piece of glass, but it is necessary to get to where you want to be. It is a complex journey of self discovery that many avoid and hence live in a sea of mediocrity, fearful of seeing the hard truths that are part of themselves. They bury and hide their fears in addictions and anxieties for fear of what they may find underneath it all, not realizing that some part of their life has an unmasked aspect of strength and joy that they could built their success upon, if they do the hard work.
It is as painful as birthing a child during labour, and by avoiding it they miss out on the joyous prize. Just as the birth of a newborn baby brings joy, facing yourself is the start of living a successful, authentic life with the satisfaction of all the yearnings of their spirit.
If one surrenders to the process ― seeing yourself as you really are, honestly, bare and truthfully... Ahhh, that is the beginning of growth and the start of your authentic pathway ― your purpose here on earth. It is the beginning of correction, healing, discovery, and a new freedom - your successful self.
There must be some labour pain in order to hear the joyful cries of a beautiful baby. So just as facing yourself is a birthing process, expect some pain, anxieties, fear, angst, denial and excitement and then at the end of the tunnel you will see the beautiful light that begins your authentic life. You and only you will know when you have arrived as all the voids in your life are filled one by one, questions are answered about the mysteries of life and your true purpose here on earth. Death is no longer a fearful event.
Enlightenment, facing yourself, awakening, or whatever you want to call it is not about growing or learning and becoming good little God children. It is not about fixing your broken wings or avoiding the evil temptations of some twisted dark soul. It is simply about overcoming your fear of judgement long enough to be able to look at your own dark shadow and then see past the darkness to the truth that, underneath all that blackness and soot that you carry around with you, there is indeed an eagle with wings.
So walk bravely through the fear, head held high, with a mighty strut, courageous, for you walk not alone, but with your Guiding Light or Higher Power. Walk to your destiny, or if you must... RUN!

If you are faced with a mountain, you have several options.
You can climb it and cross to the other side.
You can go around it.
You can dig under it.
You can fly over it.
You can blow it up.
You can ignore it and pretend it’s not there.
You can turn around and go back the way you came.
Or you can stay on the mountain and make it your home.
